Givenchy’s 1st NYC Show Open To The Public!

givenchy1Starting from Sept. 2, tickets for Givenchy’s first runway debut show for New York Fashion Week will be available for the public. There are only 1,200 tickets available for the highly anticipated show. Out of these, 280 tickets will be given to fashion students and faculty members at Parsons, FIT, the Pratt Institute and High School for Fashion Industries.

More tickets have been kept aside for residents living in close proximity to the yet-to-be revealed venue of the show.

Tickets for the Sept. 11 presentation will be available online from Sept. 2 at 10 a.m. on It will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. The gesture on the part of Ricardo Tisci, creative director of the French fashion house, is an instance of a major designer being highly inclusive and democratic about a fashion week showing, WWD reported.

The Givenchy show coincides with the opening of its U.S. flagship boutique at Madison Avenue, Manhattan on Tuesday.

“Usually Riccardo’s shows are very sleek, with a lot of models but very, very focused. This time…it’s going to be very generous,” said CEO of Givenchy Philippe Fortunato, speaking to Fashionista. He added that the brand “dropped hints” during the  menswear show in June about what to expect, but did not add anything more.

Fans of the label will also be in for celeb-sighting. Kendall Jenner is reportedly expected to walk the catwalk for the label. So, the Kardashian-Jenner clan are likely to sit front row for the show with the likes of Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian-West, her husband Kanye West and daughter North West.

This is the first time that Givenchy is moving from Paris and showcasing its Spring/Summer 2016 collection in the States, Elle reported. The runway show will be organized under the supervision of Tisci on Sept. 11. For the show, Tisci has collaborated with performance artist Marina Abramovic.
