Tommy Hilfiger’s latest fashion campaign #whatsyourdrive centers around race cars, race car drivers and their cool uniforms. This comes as no surprise given the designer is the official apparel partner of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas motorsport team and for the Spring 2018 Tommy Hilfiger collection shown during Milan Fashion Week the designer featured a giant race car track and a collection of Formula One inspired looks.
For the new Tommy Hilfiger campaign the American brand brought together Formula One race car driver Lewis Hamilton and super model Gigi Hadid. Hadid, who has a stand alone fashion line with Tommy Hilfiger, has been a global brand ambassador for years now while Lewis was announced as the new global brand ambassador for Tommy Hilfiger only four days ago. Starting Spring 2018 The Formula One race car driver will be the face of Tommy Hilfiger men’s, including Hilfiger collection, Tommy Hilfiger tailored and Tommy Hilfiger menswear, underwear and swimwear.
After the announcement the brand wasted no time pairing their two lead models together. The idea of a spin around the race track must have seemed like a good idea at the time, but maybe it was a bit ambitious.
In a BTS video Lewis Hamilton appears frightened to death with Gigi Hadid behind the wheal, and to be fair, “Oh, shit” is the last thing a Formula One driver ever wants to hear when riding shot gun with a novice in a Mercedes-AMG GT.
