Meet Natacha Ramsay-Levi, Chloé’s New Creative Director

A few days ago Chloé announced Natacha Ramsay-Levi as creative director of the French fashion house. The unfussy Frenchwoman described as “the reigning French queen of déshabillé cool “by Vogue is expected to bring about a different type of Chloé girl, one with a more a youthful spirit and a new attitude.

Preceding director Clare Waight Keller appeared buyant backstage at her exiting show, causing much speculation that rumors of Keller cinching the now open Givenchy director role might be true.

Top Influencers often seen front row at Chloé runway shows, Sofia Sanchez de Betak, Veronika Heilbrunner and Elena Perminova, dressed in the house brand.

Ramsay-Levi, who will commence her new role on April 3, will be responsible for Chloé’s ready-to-wear, leather goods and accessories lines, joining the company from Louis Vuitton where she has been the creative director of women’s ready-to-wear for the past four years.

Meet Natacha Ramsay-Levi, Chloé’s new creative director.

Natacha Ramsay-Levi, best known as the right-hand woman to Nicolas Ghesquière, began her career as an intern at Balenciaga in 2002 following a course at France’s Studio Berçot fashion school. At Balenciaga, she rose through the ranks, becoming the head designer of Balenciaga’s women’s pre-collections in 2007, and its design director in 2011. When Ghesquière left from the brand in 2013, Ramsay Levi followed a few months later.

Ramsay-Levi is a relatively unknown name for fashion fans, but something of a French It-girl in Parisian party circles. The appointment of the ‘insider’ follows a hiring trend that we’ve seen regularly in the industry lately, after Gucci successfully promoted its former head of accessories, Alessandro Michele, into its creative director vacancy, and Mulberry poached former Celine accessories boss Johnny Coca, to take its top job in 2015. Chloé
