Carolina Herrera Hands the Creative Reins of Her Company to Wes Gordon.

Carolina Herrera is a Venezuelan fashion designer known for “exceptional personal style” and for dressing various First Ladies, including Jacqueline Onassis, Laura Bush, Michelle Obama, and Melania Trump. And after thirty-seven years of presenting, Carolina Herrera will show her last collection this Monday night.

Carolina will continue to be a global brand ambassador for her namesake brand; but she will hand over the creative reins to Chicago-born, Atlanta-raised Wes Gordon who has been consulting with the house the past several seasons.

Fun fact, both Wes Godon and Carolina Herrera have attracted the attention of a stylish and beloved First Lady. Michelle Obama wore Carolina Herrera gowns, day dresses and coats through out her time as First Lady.  And, she wore Wes Gordon’s jacquard blazer with a pair of leather leggings to the Kid’s Choice Awards in 2012.

This gives us hope that Carolina Herrera has chosen the right successor.

On Monday, Carolina Herrera will step out after her show at the Museum of Modern Art to wave to her audience. She will be, as usual, impeccably coiffed and composed, most likely in a white shirt and dark skirt with glowing white pearls in her ears.

And after her final bow, Wes Gordon will become the new creative director of Carolina Herrera.
