Ava DuVernay announced she will develop a comedy series with Colin Kaepernick based on his high school life. Ava shared the news in a Vanity Fair article with Nicole Spearling published last Friday. The project has yet to be officially announced, and there is no network attached. In the Vanity Fair article DuVernay revealed she is meeting with Wrinkle producer Jim Whitaker on the new TV comedy series with Colin Kaepernick.
Kaepernick will be the latest athlete to move into entertainment. LeBron James made the biggest splash with Stars network series Survivor’s Remorse and James has announced a new Netflix miniseries Madam CJ Walker starring Octavia Spencer. Blake Griffin just announced a project last week, and Steph Curry also has a first-look deal set up with a studio.
