Netflix scores high marks for bravely mixing cultures, political views, fashion genres, lost beauty trends, screen sirens and hot topics with this month’s line up. First up “Dear White People” brings back the original cast and a much larger white cast of characters who explore radical politics and nationalist sentiment in America. The edgy trailer suggests DWP is Netflix’s most relevant series highlighting millennial culture.
The stand-up comedy specials on Netflix this month include a strong line up of funny, wild women. Netflix brings back the “Queens of Comedy” and they add a new routine by “Ali Wong”, between the two we expect the female gaze on dating and marriage to have us all in tears. Also of note is the Netflix stand-up premiere of “Michelle Wolf” whose name is hot on social media circuits right now.
Other new and noteworthy films this month include indie-dramas “Catching Feelings” and “Sara’s Notebook”, they juxtapose light-hearted romantic comedy films “Mamma Mia” and “The 40 Year Old Virgin”.
