Alexander McQueen Now Offers Bespoke Suiting For Men On Savile Row.

Alexander McQueen opened its first ever store at 9 Savile Row not too long ago. The highly-anticipated boutique promised an in-house tailoring service in its basement – where apprentices would be given full training, in the same way that Alexander McQueen once did when he first started his career on the famous street. And the dream has come true.

People may not know have known that tailoring was at the very heart of Alexander McQueen and is a fundamental part of the house. Founder of the brand, Lee Alexander McQueen, trained as an apprentice on Savile Row, where he learned the discipline and craftsmanship of cut, shape and proportion.

Today, tailoring remains the backbone of the brand and is woven into the codes of the house. Combining traditional techniques with new and innovative approaches, a bespoke Alexander McQueen suit will be expertly crafted to the highest quality and with the utmost attention to detail.

“Tailoring was so important to Lee and is to the house itself,” Burton told The Times. “It feels special to be back on Savile Row – almost like a homecoming in a way.”

The shop is home to the largest McQueen menswear offering in the world, selling its ready-to-wear and accessories – many of which are displayed in open cabinets allowing shoppers to feel and touch the products before they buy.
